The episode ends with an account of the cavalcade of the Lord Lieutenant of Ireland , William Ward, Earl of Dudley , through the streets, which is encountered by various characters from the novel. Episode 11, Sirens [ edit ] In this episode, dominated by motifs of music, Bloom has dinner with Stephen's uncle at a hotel, while Molly's lover, Blazes Boylan , proceeds to his rendezvous with her. While dining, Bloom watches the seductive barmaids and listens to the singing of Stephen's father and others.

Episode 12, Cyclops [ edit ] This chapter is narrated by an unnamed denizen of Dublin. The narrator goes to Barney Kiernan 's pub where he meets a character referred to only as "The Citizen". There is a belief that this character is a satirization of Michael Cusack , a founder member of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The episode ends with Bloom reminding the Citizen that his Saviour was a Jew.

As Bloom leaves the pub, the Citizen, in anger, throws a biscuit tin at where Bloom's head had been, but misses.

The chapter is marked by extended tangents made in voices other than that of the unnamed narrator: these include streams of legal jargon, Biblical passages, and elements of Irish mythology. Episode 13, Nausicaa [ edit ] All the action of the episode takes place on the rocks of Sandymount Strand, a shoreline area to the southeast of central Dublin.

Three Words, Eight Letters, If I Say It, Will I Be Yours? Series

The girls are taking care of three children, a baby, and four-year-old twins named Tommy and Jacky. Gerty contemplates love, marriage and femininity as night falls. The reader is gradually made aware that Bloom is watching her from a distance. Gerty teases the onlooker by exposing her legs and underwear, and Bloom, in turn, masturbates. After several mental digressions he decides to visit Mina Purefoy at the maternity hospital.

Some believe that the episode is divided into two halves: the first half the highly romanticized viewpoint of Gerty, and the other half that of the older and more realistic Bloom. It has also attracted great attention from scholars of disability in literature. Episode 14, Oxen of the Sun [ edit ] Bloom visits the maternity hospital where Mina Purefoy is giving birth, and finally meets Stephen, who has been drinking with his medical student friends and is awaiting the promised arrival of Buck Mulligan.

As the only father in the group of men, Bloom is concerned about Mina Purefoy in her labour. He starts thinking about his wife and the births of his two children. The young men become boisterous, and even start talking about topics such as fertility, contraception and abortion.

They continue on to a pub to continue drinking, following the successful birth of a son to Mina Purefoy. This chapter is remarkable for Joyce's wordplay, which, among other things, recapitulates the entire history of the English language. After a short incantation, the episode starts with latinate prose, Anglo-Saxon alliteration , and moves on through parodies of, among others, Malory , the King James Bible , Bunyan , Pepys , Defoe , Sterne , Walpole , Gibbon , Dickens , and Carlyle , before concluding in a haze of nearly incomprehensible slang.

The development of the English language in the episode is believed to be aligned with the nine-month gestation period of the foetus in the womb. The plot is frequently interrupted by "hallucinations" experienced by Stephen and Bloom—fantastic manifestations of the fears and passions of the two characters.

Stephen and Lynch walk into Nighttown, Dublin's red-light district. Bloom pursues them and eventually finds them at Bella Cohen 's brothel where, in the company of her workers including Zoe Higgins , Florry Talbot and Kitty Ricketts , he has a series of hallucinations regarding his sexual fetishes, fantasies and transgressions.

When Bloom witnesses Stephen overpaying for services received, Bloom decides to hold onto the rest of Stephen's money for safekeeping. Stephen hallucinates that the rotting cadaver of his mother has risen up from the floor to confront him. Terrified, Stephen uses his walking stick to smash a chandelier and then runs out. Bloom quickly pays Bella for the damage, then runs after Stephen. Bloom finds Stephen engaged in a heated argument with an English soldier, Private Carr, who, after a perceived insult to the King, punches Stephen.

The police arrive and the crowd disperses. As Bloom is tending to Stephen, Bloom has a hallucination of Rudy, his deceased child. Episode 16, Eumaeus [ edit ] Bloom and Stephen go to the cabman's shelter to restore the latter to his senses.

Three Words, Eight Letters, If I Say It, Will I Be Yours? Part 1

At the cabman's shelter, they encounter a drunken sailor named D. Murphy W. Murphy in the text. The episode is dominated by the motif of confusion and mistaken identity, with Bloom, Stephen and Murphy's identities being repeatedly called into question. The rambling and laboured style of the narrative in this episode reflects the nervous exhaustion and confusion of the two protagonists. Episode 17, Ithaca [ edit ] Bloom returns home with Stephen, makes him a cup of cocoa , discusses cultural and lingual differences between them, considers the possibility of publishing Stephen's parable stories, and offers him a place to stay for the night.

Stephen refuses Bloom's offer and is ambiguous in response to Bloom's proposal of future meetings. The two men urinate in the backyard, Stephen departs and wanders off into the night, [25] and Bloom goes to bed, where Molly is sleeping.

She awakens and questions him about his day. The episode is written in the form of a rigidly organised and "mathematical" catechism of questions and answers, and was reportedly Joyce's favourite episode in the novel.

The deep descriptions range from questions of astronomy to the trajectory of urination and include a famous list of 25 men perceived as Molly's lovers apparently corresponding to the suitors slain at Ithaca by Odysseus and Telemachus in The Odyssey , including Boylan, and Bloom's psychological reaction to their assignation. While describing events apparently chosen randomly in ostensibly precise mathematical or scientific terms, the episode is rife with errors made by the undefined narrator, many or most of which are intentional by Joyce.

The episode uses a stream-of-consciousness technique in eight sentences and lacks punctuation. For the best experience on our site, be sure to turn on Javascript in your browser.

But her happy world soon crumbles when her boyfriend cheats on her and leaves, her best friend turns against her and their family business falls close to bankruptcy. Throughout all this, only Kean, the cool and seemingly broody heartthrob, never leaves her side. But how will they end up together if fate seems hell-bent You can find more reviews at Galactic Book Reviews Summary: But how will they end up together if fate seems hell-bent on keeping them apart? The girl is rich, pretty and has an amazing boyfriend.

The guy is moody, antisocial and a heartthrob. But something about this book makes it special. The characters are so strong, especially the heroine. She is not whiny but she is very kind and forgiving that some people are taking her.

Kean, oh I love this guy! He can make you laugh if you are down, he respects and understands your choices and him being handsome is a bonus! Oh and he has six pack abs. The plot is okay and the characters are strong but there were a few things that I disliked. I mean, how could a mother be so selfish? And why would she suddenly show up in their house on a special day of all the days of the year?

She should really find someone that will love her like how Chanel loves Kean. Overall, I enjoyed this book. It was a quick and fun read. I recommend this to the people out there. I really enjoyed it. Nov 01, Fiella Andrada rated it really liked it Recommends it for: This story really knows how to make a person feel happy, lonely, sad, excited, and loved. As you read, you will notice that you slowly give in as if this story was real.

Do not go further if you have not read the story yet. Who would've thought that this stone-hearted person will fall for a girl who has a This story really knows how to make a person feel happy, lonely, sad, excited, and loved.

But as they said, "opposites do attract". This story made me smile, laugh, scream, kick, punch, and cry. Even though some scenes are a little bit cliche, you will NOT get bored.

But once you get to read the BOOK 2, you will cry. Tears of joy maybe? I mean, it's already okay when it is in Tagalog. Plus, reading the published book is really "bitin". I liked the Wattpad version better.

To the author, MS. JADE, thanks for making this entertaining yet inspirational story. This story is the reason why I loved reading in Wattpad. Dec 14, Veronica Hualde rated it liked it Shelves: I haven't read the Wattpad version so i can't compare between the two, regardless of the medium used. As for the book, the story was quite fast-paced so much that one can't help but felt cheated of the romantic scenes just my two cents.

I felt the ending was sort of rushed as expected with the limited pages. It was a bit disappointing when Kean promised to hold-on to their love but ended up succumbing marrying the woman his mom plead for him to marry. However, the story itself is a light-read bo I haven't read the Wattpad version so i can't compare between the two, regardless of the medium used.

However, the story itself is a light-read book except the accident on the last part. Every once in a while, we should expect a tragic ending. It's not always roses and rainbows, pink unicorns and prince charming. I like the ending not because I'm a masochist at heart but because the author didn't opted to fall into prey with the pressure of finishing a happily-ever-book. Kudos to the young writers and to the young readers of today.

Oct 01, Diene Barium rated it really liked it. So my beloved Kean's been published now but it seems like the way it was written in Filipino was much better. But still, I haven't gotten that far from the pages of the published book.

Chanel loves deeply. She gives her hundred percent trust to people she cared about. Then her heart got broken. Kean's a distant man. A lonely ma who misses his mom. A man who would push people away.

Then one day he falls in love. Will they're love life change and take their friends So my beloved Kean's been published now but it seems like the way it was written in Filipino was much better. Will they're love life change and take their friendship to another level?

Or will it just be a sad but romantic relationship reality has? Oooh Check it out! download the book! I haven't got any regrets about it so you should try it too!

Read it and love it! But there's something about it that will make you wanna read until the end. I guess it's the fact that we are suckers for romance and happy endings though some of us won't admit it and we just wanna know if they had their share of happily ever after in spite of.

Perhaps give courage to those afraid to love or give hope for the ones pining for the love of their lives, or even without a happy ending, the thoughts pondered about love, loss, and everything else that went with it will surely count for something.

Whatever the reason, it all boils down to, "We are human and we need to be loved just like everybody else does. Well, as of today, this is my favorite novel sa wattpad. I remember nung di pa siya napupublish, Inaabangan ko bawat scenes.

Maybe dahil siya din si Mario but nevertheless this story, made my teenage life oh-so special. I could still remember when I read the Filipino version, I need to stop reading it when I discovered that Kean is going to die, I just can't accept it.

I just recently finish reading the Filipino version. The English translation of the book came out better than the original.

Sorry about that. I enjoyed the English one way better. The emotions of the character weren't that dragging and kind of OA as the original. I can't wait for the sequel! Goodness, I just can't even The only thing that I really liked about this book was the heartbreaking conclusion.

Totally unexpected and just wow. I won't be continuing on with the other books that's for sure.Throughout all this, only Kean, the cool and seemingly broody heartthrob, never leaves her side. The emotions of the character weren't that dragging and kind of OA as the original.

TOP 2: I remember nung di pa siya napupublish, Inaabangan ko bawat scenes.
